Post Budget 2016 Tips

With new taxes on online shoppingincrease in gas prices and other taxes some people may find it hard to spend money on video games. This hobby isn't cheap as some of the latest technologies in gaming can go for over $4000 TTD (I'm looking at you PlayStation VR). That's why I have put together a list of games that wouldn't break the bank.

Android and IOS Games

Run endlessly

Do you have a smart phone or tablet? Heck! Almost everyone has one these days (my 4 year old niece is a tablet master). There are many free games that you can download on these devices that are great but watch out for freemium games like Clash of Clans and Real Racing that are designed to suck the money right out of your wallet. Here are some good ones:

Super Stickman Golf 3

Alto's Adventure

Gyro

Here is a link with some other great mobile games you can download.

Video-game Sales

The discounts are MONSTER

If you play games on PC or MAC I'm am sure you've heard about Steam, a gaming platform where you can download and play games with your friends. Steam has many different specials year-round where you can get games for as cheap as $1 USD (sometimes cheaper). Other platforms such as XBOX and PlayStation also have sales on games as well. Both platform also offer even more discounts and free games if you are an XBOX Live Gold or PlayStation Plus Member. Trust me when I say, both are worth the annual fee.

Share the Wealth

Just as the video shows, you can borrow a game from a friend. In these hard times it literally pays if you have friends that are willing to lend you some of their games. Just make sure to return them when you're done 😉.

Used Games / Pre-Owned

Step right up and get your used games

Another way of getting games is to buy them used or pre-owned. You wouldn't get the latest games but you can indeed find some gems hidden in there. Most game stores have used games on sale. Check out G-Spot Entertainment (safe search on!) or Sheltech Electronics.

Trade-Ins

I already got all the achievements

How do you think the stores mentioned above gets there used games? From trade-ins. If you have old games just laying around even some games from previous generations trade them in for in-store credit. You can use it to buy a new game or you can even sell them yourself by listing them online.

Bonus: Brick Games

The memories

Remember these gems. If you're really looking for budget gaming then look no further. Some have over 100 games stored in them including Tetris (one of my favorites) and I'm sure they still go for cheap at your local toy or $10 store. I have no doubt that you can be a financially responsible gamer.

Am I missing any other way you can save money on games? Please feel free to share it in the comment section below.
