Couch Brothers Episode 3

On this third episode we are play another action packed game called Towerfall: Ascension. A great game released in 2013 from Matt Makes Games, a small indie developer that makes games mostly by himself or with a small group of friends. In this multi-player game four archers face each other in a battle royal. To win a match you have to score five points by incapacitating your opponent and at the end of each match everyone is awarded medals based on their performance. I was joined by Corey AKA Faero355 for a another best out of 5 series (see the first series here) that had us jumping in our seats. Enjoy 😉!!!

5 Top Movies Insipired by Video Games

Video game movies are notorious for being terrible. I sat through some of these movies but there are a few of them that aren't video game movies that are actually good. These movies are not adaptions of popular video games but felt like it was ripped right out of one. Some of the video game inspiration in this list are more glaring then others so without further ado let's get started.

5: TRON

Were you ever stuck in a virtual world? Well this happen to the protagonist Flynn in this movie when he was trying to hack into one of his employee's computer. This science fiction action-adventure took place mostly in a virtual world where Flynn had to play games that represented old school arcade games to survive. The movie borrowed from video games of its time and the protagonist was a video game programmer. Though the movie has pacing problems I still enjoy it.

PlayStation VR Impressions

Originally named "Project Morpheus" the PlayStation VR is Sony's first dive into virtual reality (VR) technology. I finally got my hands on one recently and it was a magical experience. Full disclosure, I've never experienced VR before with any of the other VR headsets (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift) because of the price tag and the ridiculous PC you'll need to run it.

Want more tips? I got you covered. Today I have tips for two great games (Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and inFAMOUS Second Son) if you are a achievement or trophy hunter like me.

Drop Everything - inFAMOUS Second Son

You can only get this trophy after beating the game. You need to climb the tallest building in the game which is located Uptown. This is the same building you climbed before facing the final boss so follow the same path from before. At the top you'll see a satellite dish. Dash in it using your video powers then quickly use a double air surge (press twice in a row) and then hold down to perform a Comet Drop. Try to land on the street and then... 🎵 pop goes the trophy sound 🎵.

Extra Life 2016

This weekend gamers played their favourite games to raise money for charity. You may be asking yourself, how can one raise money by playing videogames? Well my friend Extra Life is a fund raising campaign that supports hospitals by letting gamers do what they do best (play games) to help sick and injured children all around the world. All you have to do is sign up for free, commit to playing for 24 hours straight (which sounds easy, but isn't), and ask your family and friends to support your efforts by donating.

Extra Life was inspired by Victoria Enmon, a Leukemia patient that touched the lives of everyone including the founder of the program Jeromy Adams.

Couch Brothers Episode 2

In the second episode of 'Couch Bros' we're playing the action packed fighting game Nidhogg. This indie game came out in 2014 by Messhof Games. It's extreme fencing where the winner of each game gets eaten by a Nidhogg (get it). I was joined by Corey AKA Faero355 for a best out of 5 series and I hope you enjoy the carnage. Tip Hunter: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Today I'll like to share two Metal Gear Solid V tips that I recorded that could help you in your quest for world domination (or trophy domination).

How to take out an armored vehicle (non-lethally)

It's fairly simple. Unlock the smoke dispersal support from upgrading your support unit. This allows you to bombard the enemy with smoke bombs for roughly 14000 GMP. But first you'll need to mark the targets before you can make the request. Follow the clip below on how to go about taking out the armored unit with ease.

G.A.T.E. 2016 Review

The Gaming, Animation and Technology Expo (G.A.T.E.) was held this past Saturday at the Banquet & Conference Centre in Movie Towne, Port of Spain. Chrono Fantasy Entertainment hosted the event for local fans of the aforementioned communities. The coming attractions of the expo was posted in a previous post that can be found here.

The first thing I noticed when a walked in was the exhibitor booths with all sorts of gaming and anime merchandise for sale including t-shirts, hats, masks, action figures (dolls) even weapons and pillows. The organizers also opened their doors to youths clubs around Trinidad and Tobago as to influence the next generation of gamers, technology enthusiasts and otakus.

5 Top games that scared the S*!T out of me

It's that time of the year again. A time when it's cool to scare people, more horror movies hit the big and small screens and children from foreign lands (Westmoorings) dress up like ghost 'n goblins (see what I did there) to get snacks and candy. I thought it would be fun to list some of the top games that affected me... in a frightening way of course. Some of these are not horror games but they had horror elements in them that made me quite uncomfortable while playing them. I dear you to play each clip below and not clinch your butt once.

According to my mother this game gave me nightmares and she could never understood why I used to play it as a kid. Maybe it was because I sucked at playing it so bad that it felt like a slasher movie where all the teenagers eventually die in the end. But that wasn't the scariest part. Videogames bring people together and it keeps people off the streets too (let's be honest it isn't safe out there). I posted before about how I love playing games especially with friends and family. It makes whatever game you're playing better as you crack jokes and enjoy each others company. That's why I decided to start this series. To show how much fun it is to play games locally with others. Nintendo Switch First Impressions

Nintendo announced their newest console to much fanfare from the international gaming community. It's called the 'Switch' and it enables gamers to play console games from wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. For instance, let's say you are playing Mario brothers on your couch at home and you get thirsty. Instead of stopping the game to go to the parlour, you can take the system (tablet) out of the docking station. The system will then switch to portable mode (get it... switch) where you can enjoy your game while going for a C-Drink.

VERSUS T&T Championship Trophies

VERSUS recently posted three (3) trophies for the upcoming tournament. These trophies are special because they're not exactly trophies (well one is a trophy). Two of them are belts (WWE style) and participants can challenge the champions of both Street Fighter V and Super Smash Brothers Wii-U for reign over the title. Additional prizes will go out to champions that can retain their World...? title till the next VERSUS tournament.

This hobby isn't cheap as some of the latest technologies in gaming can go for over $4000 TTD (I'm looking at you PlayStation VR). That's why I have put together a list of games that wouldn't break the bank.

Do you have a smart phone or tablet? Heck! Almost everyone has one these days (my 4 year old niece is a tablet master). There are many free games that you can download on these devices that are great but watch out for freemium games like Clash of Clans and Real Racing that are designed to suck the money right out of your wallet. Here are some good ones:

Pokemon Going in Port of Spain

Pokemon Go for IOS and Android is the new hotness. This free augmented reality mobile game uses every part of your phone (which is why the battery drains so quickly) to immerse you into a real world Pokemon adventure (oh how I miss Pokemon Gold). Though it isn't a perfect game their is still some fun to be had catching wild Pokemon throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

The best place to Pokemon Go around the east-west corridor is Port of Spain. This includes Woodbrook, Queens Park Savannah and St. James. The city has everything from gyms, stops

and different types of Pokemon. I live is close to Arima but when comparing the experience I had in town, going to Arima just isn't worth the $5 trip because the area is marked is a rural area in the game thus, the types of Pokemon that appear are mostly bugs, birds and RATS (disgusting).

Water Front Hyatt Regency

This is a good place to start your master questing as you have to pass here to get to the next location. It's perfect for water type Pokemon because it is close to the sea, it has a gym (Go team mystic) and three stops in close proximity (how I envy the people working there). Did I mention it has a great view as well (Pokemon Go date any one?).
